Everything you wanted to know about Solar West's Swim Nights:

When? 7pm to 10pm on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays each month, except long weekends. Check the Calendar!

Where? Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre, 1 Aquatic Dve, opposite Highpoint West Shopping Centre.

Cost? Visitors (couples or families) $30. Members $20 or $11 if attending without partner.

What do I need to bring? Something edible for supper. A towel. Money. You. Oh, and a smile.

Can Single (male) visitors attend? Generally, no. It is vital that we maintain a reasonable Male/Female ratio, and invariably if attendance is opened up to all comers, the women disappear and the nights become 90% male.

Are there exceptions to the single guy rule? Everything in life has exceptions. From time to time, we have been known to admit INF passport holders travelling interstate or overseas without their partners, and we have been known to find ladies to "accompany" single males. It doesn't happen often, but if you think your circumstances warrant it, ask.

What about Open Days? There are two main differences between our regular nights and open days. The most important is that everyone is welcome. That is, the normal single male rules do not apply on those nights. The other is that the entry fee is a flat $10 per adult, members and visitors alike. Everything else is the same.

Does that mean Open Days are 90% male? Thankfully, so far, no. We have been tracking gender balance for some years now, and have found that enough couples and single women attend open days that the percentage of males remains under 70% The only major visible difference on these nights is that there are few, if any, children. Presumably the parents don't want to bring them when they don't know who will be attending.

I'm still worried about all those guys at Open Days, is it really safe? Just because we allow single males to attend on these nights does not mean the usual standards are in any way lowered. Should anyone misbehave, they will be asked to leave, and may be banned from attending in future. Most singles would love to have a partner to bring, but can't find one willing to attend. This does not make them perverts or wierdos, just people without partners, and their behaviour is no worse than anyone elses.

How do I get in touch with you? eMail is probably easiest. Or ring the club's mobile phone (0421) 28 5005. This is an Optus PrePaid phone, so calls from other Optus prepaids may be free, depending on your plan. If there is no answer, try again shortly, as there are many reasons for not answering immediately.
