Good turnout kicks off 2010
A very warm day and night and a lot of alternative entertainment on TV and elsewhere did little to deter both regular and new visitors, with overall attendance at about the same level as at the end of last year. A little hiccup with our urns not returning from their end of year break did make getting a cup of coffee more challenging than usual, but everyone took things in their stride, and all seemed to be enjoying themselves.
The 74 adults in attendance comprised 27 members and 47 visitors. 10 of the 19 ladies were visitors. The 74% Male/Female ratio was at the upper end of the comfort scale, and entirely due to the poor member turnout. We seem to be attracting plenty of interest from non-members, but for some reason a lot of our long-term members seem to have better things to do on these nights, and it shows in the statistics. We would like to remind our female members and visitors to attend these events if at all possible. We do have a lot of single males who are not normally able to attend our regular swim nights, and we need to maintain a balance in the genders. Also remember that visting couples and families are welcome at ALL events, not just Open Days. The next Open Day will be on March 13th, a few days after the end of the Moomba festivities.
