Many people have long complained that there are no swim nights over the holiday period. The main reason that clubs, including ours, did not hold events over the Summer holidays is that many people travel at this time of year. Therefore they are not around to attend, which would mean substantial losses due to poor attendances not covering the cost of venue hire.

However, Solar West has been progressively narrowing the gap, first with a December Open Day, then we added another in the fifth week of January. We were pleasantly surprised at the level of support for these events. Perhaps not everyone spends the entire Summer traipsing around the countryside after all?

We have now been able to negotiate for not one, but TWO more Open Days, one at each end of the Summer break. The first will be a week before Xmas (and a week after our existing December Open Day), and the second will be a week before the end of January.

The updated schedule therefore is:

Nov 27 - Xmas Party
Dec 11 - Open Day
Dec 18 - Open Day

Jan 22 - Open Day
Jan 29 - Open Day
Feb 12 - Regular Swim Night

The holiday break has therefore been reduced to only five weeks, and we would hope that anyone not travelling at this time will make an effort to attend one or both nights. We also look forward to meeting any Interstate or Overseas visitors who may be coming to Melbourne over the Summer.

Also, we are negotiating with another venue to try and hold Open Days in August/September. These will be on a Friday or Sunday night, and details will of course be posted here once we have confirmed bookings in place.
